Rosie O’Donnell’s daughter makes domestic violence claims

Rosie O’Donnell, who is 55 years old, has a 19-year-old daughter whom she hasn’t been in touch with since 2015. That’s when her daughter left the home. The daughter recently spoke out about it, accusing the television star of abuse and alleging that she chased her with a wine bottle.

According to the daughter, she had gone out and decided to get a tattoo, something O’Donnell did not approve of. She claims that her mother was able to see where she went because of “spyware” on her cellphone. That’s how her mother found out about the new ink.

One night, she says that O’Donnell was drinking and told her to show her the tattoo. She said that she didn’t even have one. Her mother then told her to undress so she could look at it, since she did not know its location on her body. Again, she said she wasn’t going to do that.

Her daughter claims that’s when her mother picked up the wine bottle and ran around the house, threatening to hit her with it if she tried to leave the house and demanding that she undress and display the tattoo. Her daughter alleges that death threats were even involved, with her mother saying she was strong enough to kill her if she wanted to do so. On top of that, she alleges that O’Donnell said she’d get in touch with the police and lie, saying the daughter was the attacker, if need be.

After that, the young woman left the home. She said that she was afraid to contact the authorities because she knew that O’Donnell was an influential person, and she feared that the police would not believe her when she told them what had happened.

She also said that this was not the only event, accusing her mother of verbally abusing her for years, since before she was even a teenager. This was simply the event that she claims pushed her out of the house.

So, what did O’Donnell say about the accusations? She denied it all. She said that her daughter had been a drug addict all her life, using heroin. She also blamed mental illness and noted her trips to the hospital. She mentioned brain injuries and said that her daughter was simply “very sick” and that she made up the story.

O’Donnell also said that her daughter had been trying to get money, implying that the reason she made up the story was just to get paid.

For celebrities and high-profile public figures, criminal domestic violence accusations from family members can have a drastic impact and threaten a career. Those in the public eye essentially have a brand attached to their names, and accusations alone can damage it. It’s crucial that those accused of any crimes know what legal options they have to clear their names.
